LiveText has good technical assistance if you call 866-Live-Text (866-548-3839) or e-mail
support@livetext.com. There are also good instruction manuals available from the Help tab at the top right of the LiveText home page. If you are on campus, LiveText help sessions are scheduled in Labry Hall Lab 009 every Friday from 1 until 2 p.m. RSVP to
Dr. Cummings if you would like to attend. Also, instructions on how to open the portfolio are
here, or you may view the Flash videos below for tutorials on creating a portfolio (See also:
What Goes in My Portfolio?). Additional Flash videos offer short walk-throughs of other LiveText procedures.
Keeping up the portfolio is your responsibility. Do not wait until just before your portfolio is reviewed to begin work on it. The best way to approach the portfolio is in increments, as you take courses:
-
As you take courses that cover content listed in the candidate proficiencies at the bottom of each standards page in the portfolio, enter the course number and title in the "Courses Taken" section of the page.
-
As you do assignments for your courses, attach them to the "Artifacts" section of the standard(s) the assignment applies to (again, look in the candidate proficiencies section to see what applies).
-
As you take courses that are strong on content related to one or two of the standards, begin drafting your statements.
For Track II candidates: Before student teaching, you will need to send your portfolio for review to the TEP II interview committee members (call the School of Education secretary at 615.547.1313 to learn who those committee members are). The rubric for evaluating the portfolios can be viewed by clicking here or navigating to the Academics - Undergraduate > School of Education & Public Service > Student Resources page, and looking under the "Assessments" section.
The portfolio review is part of your comprehensive exam.
