Finanicial Services - Undergrad - Scholarships

Scholarships are non-repayable monetary awards given to qualified students based upon academic and leadership ability. Students may apply for one or more of the following, but will receive funding from only one source if eligible. A student's eligibility is limited to four (4) academic years, defined as eight (8) semesters. Students should refer to the Cumberland University Financial Aid Brochure for additional Scholarship information.
  • Academic Scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen students who have earned a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0 and a minimum twenty-two (22) on the ACT, or one thousand twenty (1020) on the SAT. Restrictions: Full-time students status, plus maintain a minimum cumulative 3.00 Grade Point Average (GPA).
  • Leadership Scholarships are awarded to qualifying students based on their leadership potential, involvement in school activities and community service. Recommendations from guidance counselors, administrators, teachers, and community leaders are encouraged. Applicants must have a minimum twenty (20) on the ACT, and a cumulative 2.80 GPA. Restrictions: Full-time student status. Maintain a 3.00 cumulative GPA. Continued participation in campus activities is encouraged.
  • Ernest L. Stockton Jr. Scholarships are awarded to students who have an Associate's Degree from an accredited two (2) year community/junior college with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50. Restrictions: Full-time student status plus maintain a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA on courses taken at Cumberland University . Ernest L. Stockton, Jr., received the Bachelor of Arts degree in 1939 and the Doctor of Laws (honoris causa) in 1958 from Cumberland University . He served as the institution's 18th President from 1958-1982.
  • Endowment Scholarships – Scholarships funded in the name of an individual or family, generally for specific reasons. Cumberland offers a wide variety of endowment scholarships for new and current students pursuing a variety of majors. Priority consideration will be given to all applications received by May 1.   • Transfer Student Scholarships are awarded to transfer students with a 3.1 or higher cumulative GPA in prior college course work and who have completed a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours. Restrictions: Full-time enrollment status, plus maintain the GPA on which the scholarship was based.
  • Trustee Scholarships are awarded to students in the top five percent (5%) of their graduating class and who have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 and a minimum thirty (30) on the ACT or a one thousand three hundred forty (1340) on the SAT. Restrictions: Full-time student status plus maintain a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA, and enter Cumberland University as a freshman student.
  • Valedictorian/Salutatorian Scholarships are awarded to any valedictorian or salutatorian who is a graduate of an accredited high school and who has a minimum of twenty-four (24) on the ACT, or one thousand ten (1090) on the SAT, and a minimum of 3.50 cumulative GPA. Restrictions: Full-time student status, plus maintain a 3.50 cumulative GPA.
