A nationally recognized artist and author, Ted Rose joined Cumberland University in the summer of 2008 as dean of the CU School of Music & the Arts. Previously, he had served as director of educational research for Hurst, Texas-based Third Mind Publishing and as director of David Lipscomb University's School of Fine and Performing Arts.

Mr. Rose has several publications to his credit, including the top-selling secondary education textbook on drawing in the United States, "Discovering Drawing." As an artist, he has participated in six international exhibitions and received more than 50 awards for his work. His artwork is displayed in over 300 private collections and more than 100 corporate collections, including the collections of several Fortune 500 companies. He has also served as keynote speaker for state art conferences in Nevada, Mississippi, Tennessee and Louisiana.

Mr. Rose has also worked extensively with fine arts organizations as an instructor and board member. These organizations include The Tennessee Arts Academy, The Governor's School for the Arts and state fine arts programs in Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana. His students have also won numerous awards and have been recognized for outstanding work at the secondary, collegiate and graduate levels, including the National Scholastic Art Competition, the Texas Collegiate Art Competition and international competitions in Mexico and Switzerland.

He and his wife, Kathy, make their home in Lebanon. Mrs. Rose is an educator at the secondary level.
