Annie Butler assumed her role as Cumberland University Post Master in the latter part of January 2011. A lifelong resident of Tennessee, Annie was raised in Portland and graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in August 2002 with a B.A. in English. She was an Elementary Art Educator [Grades K-5] for the 2002-2003 school year, then moved on to teach English and Social Studies at the Middle School level [6th Grade] in 2003-2004. After trying her hand at restaurant management for a few years, she was hired by the City of Portland to be a temporary receptionist. This led to her being hired as the Municipal Court Clerk, a position she held for three and a half years prior to coming to Cumberland University.
Away from work, Annie enjoys spending time with her loved ones, playing slow pitch softball, entertaining and being entertained by her cats [Penny and Tiger], reading and singing karaoke. She is also an avid fan of game shows, comedy, science fiction and animated movies and television shows.
