In May of 2007, Caroline came to Cumberland as the Recruitment and Marketing Representative for the Master of Arts in Education program. She worked as an adjunct instructor teaching Developmental Reading course to those freshmen who where in need of a “review” course before taking Freshman English. Caroline also is an adjunct instructor for ED 433 Methods of Instruction, as well as a Supervisor of Student Teachers.
Prior to employment at Cumberland University, Caroline worked for one year at Middle Tennessee State University as an adjunct instructor, teaching a Family Development course for the Human Sciences Dept, as well as several Developmental Reading courses. In addition, Caroline has a strong pedagogical knowledge of teaching and learning from a thirty year educational career which includes teaching multiple grade levels within the Tennessee public school system.
After graduating from Clinton High School in East Tennessee, Caroline attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and received her BS in Elementary Education. Several years later, she completed her MA in Leadership and Administration from Tennessee Tech University at Cookeville, TN.
She is a native of East Tennessee, but after 32 years in Middle Tennessee, she calls Lebanon her home. Her husband is an attorney in the Lebanon area. They are the parents of one daughter.
Caroline is a member of First Baptist Church and involved in several other civic groups and organizations. Her hobbies include exercising, reading, and interior decorating.

Scholarship, Research, & Publications
After thirty years of service to the teaching profession, Mrs. Brown continued her lifelong learning as she joined Cumberland University to share her expertise with teaching candidates who are preparing to enter the teaching profession. She stays current in the field by visiting in the schools when observing her student teachers and remains informed of the newest assessment tools, best practice strategies, and programs that school systems currently implement.
