Dr. Sue Carmichael serves as an Adjunct Professor in Cumberland University’s MAE program.  Her 45 years of experience in K-12 education began in middle and high schools in the Jacksonville/Duval County, Florida school system. Dr. Carmichael continued her career teaching at the elementary and high school levels in the Sparta/White County, Tennessee school system. She later served for 21 years as principal at three White County elementary schools and ended her public school career after nine years as district supervisor for elementary curriculum and instruction for the White County school system. Dr. Carmichael began teaching at Tennessee Technological University in the Instructional Leadership program in 2005 and joined the Cumberland University faculty in 2014.  Among the courses she has taught at Cumberland University and/or TTU are Public School Law, Public Relations, Human Resource Management, Instructional Leadership Apprenticeship and Portfolio Development, and Curriculum Development.

Dr. Carmichael and her husband, Marty, have two sons and three grandchildren.
