BIOGRAPHY:

 

 

Degrees:  B.A., Baylor University, B.D. and Ph.D. Southern Seminary

 

 

Dr. Caldwell began teaching at Cumberland University in 2007. Since then he has taught courses in Introduction to Philosophy, Philosophical Ethics, and World Religions. Prior to joining the faculty at Cumberland Dr. Caldwell was pastor of churches in Florida, Maryland, and Nashville, Tennessee.  He was an adjunct professor of church history at Stetson University, Ft. Lauderdale Extension, at a Southern Seminary Extension in Baltimore, and was an instructor in the origin and history of Baptists during a summer in Prague, The Czech Republic. Dr. Caldwell was named a Tower Scholar at Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia, and was selected a Fellow at the College of Preachers at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. He has supervised a number of Vanderbilt Divinity School students in field placement.

Dr. Caldwell has served as a trustee of a theological seminary for eight years. He was chosen to participate in the Interfaith Study Tour of Israel sponsored by the Jewish Community Council of Greater Washington, D.C., and received special recognition for outstanding volunteer service in Prince George’s County, Maryland.  In Nashville Dr. Caldwell was named to the Mayor’s Affordable Housing Task Force and was active in community organizing.
