Appointed to the faculty of the Rudy School of Nursing in the Fall of 2012, Dr. Andrew 'AJ' Donadio received his Doctor of Nursing Practice in May 2017, Master of Science in Nursing from Tennessee Technological University Apr 2012 and his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of South Alabama (Magna Cum Laude) in May 1999.

In addition to Certified Nurse Educator via the ANA, Dr. Donadio holds clinical certifications in Adult Health and Ambulatory Nursing; through the ANCC.  

He teaches (or has taught) Medical/Surgical Nursing 1 (clinical and classroom), Foundations Clinical, Professional Role and FSL at the baccalaureate level and Legislation Policy Regulations & Ethics in Health at the Master's level.  

In an expansion of his own expertise, he has acted as an expert witness, consulting on several civil actions involving nursing practice.   

Dr. Donadio spent 24 years in the U.S. Navy starting as an enlisted Cryptologic Technician and earning his commission in the Navy Nurse Corps in May 1999. Prior to employment at Cumberland University his most recent clinical assignments were at Naval Hospital Pensacola as the Division Officer of the Ambulatory Care Unit and Conscious Sedation Clinic as well as Clinic Manager of the Navy Detachment at the Joint Ambulatory Care Center, Pensacola, FL.  Non-clinically, he spent three years as the Medical Programs Officer for Navy Recruiting Command.  He deployed in support of the Global War on Terrorism to Joint Task Force Guantanamo Bay, Cuba form October 2005 - April 2006.   

Dr. Donadio's military awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award (two awards), Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Navy Meritorious Unit Award (two awards), Navy Good Conduct Medal (two awards), National Defense Service Medal (two awards), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (nine awards), Navy Recruiting Service Ribbon (15 awards), Navy Expert Rifle Medal, Navy Expert Pistol Medal.
