Retha Parker

BIOGRAPHY:

Ms. Parker started her career working as a nurse technician, before becoming a registered nurse in 1985. She has worked in several nursing areas over her career, including postpartum, medical and surgical units, Intensive Care, home health, long term care, nursing administration, education, quality, and infection control and employee health. She has been a basic and advanced life support instructor, as well as a non-violent crisis prevention instructor. She has been certified in critical care and infection control. She graduated Sigma Cum Laud from her Master’s program in 1998, having completed a thesis in the area of sleep deprivation. She currently has memberships in Sigma Theta Tau and APIC.   She began working as an adjunct clinical instructor with Cumberland University School of Nursing in 2000. She started initially as a foundations lab instructor, and has since taught physical assessment lab, adult health 1 and 2 clinical, and advanced topics clinical.
