The Office of Communications helps to preserve the image of Cumberland University. Among many responsibilities, our team manages the content of the University's official web and Internet presence, publications, the release of University news and the use of Cumberland's name and images.

Instructions for adding an image to your gmail signature.

  1. With Gmail open, navigate to the General Settings page of your Gmail account through the Settings button (the one with the gear icon) and then the Settings option.
  2. Scroll toward the bottom of the page until you find the Signature area.
  3. Make sure the radio button next to the custom signature area is selected and not the "No signature" one. If the other one is selected, then the signature won't apply to your messages.
  4. From the menu there in the signature editor, click the Insert Image button to open the Add an image window.
  5. Search or browse for the logo image file you saved to your hard drive.
  6. Click Select to insert the image into the signature. If you need to resize it because it's too small or large, click the picture once it's inserted to access the small resize menu.
  7. Scroll to the very bottom of the settings and click Save Changes to apply the new signature.
  8. Return to these steps at any time if you want to remove the picture from the signature, edit the text or disable the signature altogether.


Project Requests:  Some tips on how to assure that your project requests go as quickly and smoothly as possible:

  1. Allow enough planning time and be clear about your final deadline, and project objectives.
  2. For printed pieces, have your copy for the piece completed.
  3. If photos are needed, provide detail on the type of photos you are seeking. We are happy to arrange custom photography, but please note this can add time to the production process.
  4. When a draft is provided, proof carefully and provide all feedback and suggestions as quickly as possible, preferably within 24 hours.  Once you feedback has been provide to the team please note the office is responsible for ensuring any message or content is consistent with the University brand, mission, vision, and values.
  5. Be honest and specific when providing corrections or comments. You will not offend us if you do not like a design, photo selection, or piece layout.
  6. Please understand that we cannot always accommodate every project requested, however, we will make every effort to come up with or suggest an alternate solution.
