First Season
Jeff Bonner begins his first season as the bowling coach at Cumberland. The bowling program is currently a club sport that offers scholarships and is overseen by Director of Athletics Ron Pavan. His wife, Beth, works at Cumberland University as an admissions representative.
Bonner previously worked at Aegis Sciences in Nashville, Tenn., as a Certifying Scientist and Forensic Chemist in the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory. His position there included drug and steroid testing for college athletics and professional sports such as NASCAR and Major League Baseball. He also performed research and method development for analyzing urine and non-biological specimens.
Bonner received his bachelor’s in Biology in 2002 from the Univ. of Georgia and is currently working on a master’s in Education at Cumberland with an expected graduation date of December 2010. He is also enrolled at Middle Tennessee State University, where he plans to complete the Ph.D. program in Mathematics and Science Education.
Bonner is an adjunct instructor at Cumberland where he teaches Introduction to Bowling. He is an active member of the American Chemical Society and the American Society of Mass Spectrometry.
