Affiliations

National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA)
Cumberland is a member of the NAIA, a national governing body for intercollegiate athletics since 1940. The NAIA stresses dedication to academic achievement above athletic excellence. Above all, there is an expectation of ethical behavior and a commitment to scholarship, sportsmanship and leadership. TranSouth Athletic Conference
Cumberland participates in 11 varsity sports in the TranSouth Athletic Conference (TSAC), which was founded in 1996. The TranSouth has claimed 10 national championships in four different sports in its brief history, including Cumberland's 2004 baseball national title. TranSouth sports include baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's tennis, softball and volleyball. Mid-South Conference
Cumberland participates in the Mid-South Conference in both football and wrestling and was a full member of the MSC from the 1997-98 academic year until 2001-02. The Mid-South Conference offers 18 varsity sports and has claimed 13 national championships in four different sports since its inception in 1995. Please visit the conference website here.
 
USA Cycling
Cumberland offers one of only 15 varsity cycling programs in the nation, with USA Cycling the governing body over the collegiate sport. USA Cycling offers national championships during the Mountain Bike and Road Racing seasons as well. To read more click here.
